KLEZMOPOLITAN
Première production du label, "Klezmopolitan" est un voyage cosmopolite autour du vaste répertoire des musiques yiddish, klezmer, ladino et judéo-arabes, revisitées par les musiques électroniques, jazz et rock.
Cet album collectif entièrement produit, regroupe plus de trente cinq artistes français mais également américains, anglais, hongrois, bulgares, canadiens et polonais autour de créations ou réinterprétations atypiques de thèmes ou chants traditionnels.
Ainsi, on découvrira entre autres dans l’album, un “ Kaddish” (prière aux morts) entièrement réécrit pour voix et harpe, on savourera le chant d’une diva yiddish flirtant avec un trio pop sur des airs de tango, tandis que des chouchous de la scène indé new-yorkaise quitteront leurs habits rock pour revisiter, voix de velours et guitare sensuelle à l’appui, quelques personnages de la mythologie juive.
S’appuyant sur des rencontres artistiques inattendues au-delà des genres et des frontières, comme en témoigne la collaboration de l’ancien bassiste du groupe PIL (conduit par l’ex-Sex Pistols Johnny Rotten), Jah Wobble, avec le chanteur yiddish Ben Zimet, l’album reflète l’exceptionnelle vitalité des musiques juives aujourd’hui en créant un pont entre passé et avenir.

First label’s release, Klezmopolitan” is a cosmopolitan journey through a vast repertoire of yiddish, klezmer, ladino and judeo-Arab music blended with twists of electronic, jazz and rock music.
This group album, entirely produced, brings together more than thirty-five French artists, as well as American, English, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Canadian and Polish artists around unique creations or reinterpretations of traditional themes or songs.
In the album you will discover, among other things, a “Kaddish” (pray to the dead) completely rewritten for the voice and harp, you will savor the song of a Yiddish diva flirting with a pop trio floating over hints of tango, while the pets of the New-York indie scene leave behind their rock habits to revisit, backed by a velvety voice and sensual guitar, some figures of Jewish mythology.
Punctuated by unexpected artistic encounters surpassing genres and borders, such as the collaboration between Jah Wobble, ex-bassist of the band PIL (led by ex-Sex Pistols Johnny Rotten), and Yiddish singer Ben Zimet, the album reflects the intersecting interest for this culture and the exceptional vitality of Jewish music today while creating a bridge between the past and the future.
